Senpai Naomi Alderson (2nd Dan)

I was born in Nelson and started training at Nelson Shibu in 2011. Karate has challenged me on many levels but it’s also great fun, and the senior students and teachers are very experienced and encouraging. I love that the core Seido values of love, respect, and obedience align with my Christian faith, and the friendships that I have developed on the dojo floor will stay with me for life. In 2021 I received my black belt in the final Shodan promotion led by Eiko Hanshi Andy Barber, followed by Nidan promotion under Sei Shihan Aaron Barber in 2023.

Seido karate is an opportunity to push the limits of the mind and body within a safe and supportive environment. Every time we step onto the floor we give our best effort – because when we train, we are not just striving to improve our bodies, but all aspects of ourselves.
