Sei Shihan Neroli Sullivan (6th Dan)

I began my Seido Karate journey training at the Nelson Shibu in 1981 under the guidance of the late Eiko Hanshi Andy Barber. I obtained my Shodan (1st Dan black belt) in 1988 and my current grade – Sei Shihan (6th Dan Black Belt) – in 2025.

Over the years I have trained in various dojos within New Zealand and overseas gaining experience, memories and life long friendships along the way.

As a teacher of new beginners, it is important to me to create a safe and positive environment where all students feel valued and welcome regardless of age, ability, religious beliefs or the like. Through karate training, students develop a sense of belonging, self belief and courage – skills that are transferred into daily life outside of the dojo. Alongside gaining physical fitness, students experience a traditional martial art whereby etiquette and the core values of Seido Karate are fostered and adhered to.
