Teapot Valley Camp Cancelled

March 2nd, 2021
Osu, everyone,
regrettably, this year’s annual Teapot Valley Seido Karate Camp is cancelled due to the Covid pandemic.
Auckland went back into Level 3 for seven days, as of six o’clock this morning. The rest of the country is at Level 2.
With over 200 students booked to attend this coming weekend’s camp, this is a major disappointment for us all.
However, Covid-19 is an extremely dangerous, highly contagious disease which has spread, in part, because of some North Island people’s irresponsible and selfish actions in not following the rules.
Seido Karate is a responsible community group within the bigger community. The restrictions at Level 2 state: no more than 100 people can gather together – and social distancing must be maintained at all times. At Teapot Valley Camp Grounds, social distancing is near-impossible when that number of students are training, sleeping in the dormitories and eating in the dining room. It is unrealistic to think we could adhere to the restrictions.
A major part of the value of our training camps is the group action, meeting new people, and the developing camaraderie. We were all looking forward to this …
However – once more we have a reminder to be grateful for living in this part of the world.
“When asked if my cup is half-full or half-empty, my response is:
“I’m just thankful to have a cup!”
